Management

The management and shareholders of Sector Investment Managers combine together to follow a rigorous investment process (see About Us for further insights into the people involved with SIM). With a deep understanding of fund-management and investment analysis, active managers, consultants, shareholders and staff collectively seek outstanding opportunities that are suitable for each of SIM’s funds under management.

The following are the senior management and staff dedicating all or most of their time to managing SIM’s funds.

Angelos Damaskos

Chief Executive Officer, Investment Adviser

Angelos DamaskosMr Damaskos is a Greek national who arrived in the UK in 1981 to attend university. Graduated in 1985 from the University of Glasgow with a Degree in Mechanical Engineering and in 1989 obtained a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Sheffield. He benefits from more than 30 years investment experience specializing on natural resources. He started his career with major investment banks in the City of London before setting up Sector Investment Managers Ltd in 2004 as a specialist in earlier stage development situations.

Before setting up Sector Investment Managers, he most recently worked with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development where he was responsible for some of the bank’s equity investments in Russia and the CIS.

Terry Bond

Managing Director

Terry BondTerry Bond is a private investor and investment author. He is currently a Monthly columnist in ‘What Investment’ magazine and author of ‘The Company of Successful Investors’ that provides guidance to investment clubs. He is also a founding director of Note My Vote, an Internet company that gives constituents the chance to offer voting advice to their MPs before parliamentary Bills are considered by the House of Commons.

John Damaskos

Investment Adviser

John DamaskosJohn A. Damaskos is an experienced investor and asset manager benefiting from over 20 years of investment experience in various asset classes. He runs several private discretionary funds investing in international bonds and equities with specialization in the Japanese markets. He established Damaskoil and Bulk Carriers Inc in 1997, of which he is Chief Executive, with the objective of managing wet and dry bulk tonnage, and listed, private investments in the shipping industry.

From 1997 to 2004 Mr. Damaskos was directing a joint venture between Damaskoil and Chandris (Hellas) Inc managing Suezmax shuttle tankers in Brazil. Earlier he was involved for four years as manager of tankers and bulkcarriers operations with Chandris (Hellas). Before joining Chandris he worked in the City of London for five years as investment manager with Merrill Lynch and other institutions. In 1984 he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering from the University of Glasgow and in 1986 a Master degree in Mechanical Engineering from Strathclyde University in Glasgow.

Dr Morris Beattie

Adviser

Dr. Morris BeattieDr. Morris Beattie PhD P.Eng, a highly regarded metallurgical engineer is an adviser to SIM. Dr. Beattie was a member of the Board of Northern Dynasty Minerals on behalf of Galahad Gold, CEO of International Molybdenum plc and recently Vice President, Project Evaluations for Quadra Mining Ltd. His knowledge and understanding of the sector and mining concepts is key in selecting portfolio holdings for mining investments.
